Behala Purba is a large, mixed, suburban–urban Vidhan Sabha constituency in South Kolkata, shaped by middle-class expansion, older residential paras, commuter dependence, and pockets of informal housing. Unlike elite cores or welfare-heavy inner-city seats, Behala Purba’s electoral behaviour is driven by infrastructure performance, daily-life governance, and turnout differentials across heterogeneous neighbourhoods.
